In the event of inclement weather, Nelson County schools has four classifications of weather decisions

Types of weather decisions

Weather Decision Notifications

NTI Days typically occur following a weather event that creates one of following scenarios

  1. When main roads are observed to be safe and accessible to staff members, yet some back roads may not be deemed safe for all buses to transport students to school. 
  2. Following extreme snow events allowing for school facilities, parking lots and transportation operations to become fully operational. 
  3. During the context of a prolonged weather event, creating numerous school cancellations, and it is deemed essential to continue learning for students.
