The NCS Care Clinics provide nursing services to all students throughout the district. All services are provided free of charge. Each school has an assigned nurse or team of nurses. The clinics are able to provide several services for students including:
Minor illnesses and injuries
With parental consent, students are provided medications and treatment as needed for a variety of minor illnesses, pain, and injuries. This allows students to be treated for minor complaints and return to class, if warranted. If the registered nurse recommends the student be evaluated by a health care provider, the parent will be contacted.
Wellness services
Our district nurse practitioner staff can provide scheduled, on-site wellness exams for your child free of charge. These include initial entry, sixth-grade entry and sports physicals.
Chronic Disease Services
Nelson County Schools Care Clinic nursing staff provide free on-site healthcare to our students for a variety of chronic diseases. Staff work alongside your child’s healthcare provider to ensure he/she is receiving all prescribed treatments and medications that may be needed during the school day.
