UNITING PEOPLE IS AT THE HEART OF EMPOWERMENT. CONNECTIONS MADE DURING YOUTH BUILD ENDURING SKILLS FOR STUDENTS TO SUCCEED THROUGHOUT LIFE.

THE POWER OF PLACE COMES ALIVE WHEN WE CONNECT OUR STUDENTS WITH PEOPLE & PLACES INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF OUR SCHOOLS TO DEVELOP AN AWARENESS OF THE MANY GIFTS IN THEIR COMMUNITY

PEOPLE ARE DRIVEN BY PURPOSE. ENSURING OUR STUDENTS ENGAGE IN VIBRANT LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP NEXT GENERATION COMPETENCIES IS ESSENTIAL TO LONG-TERM SUCCESS IN ADULT LIFE.

United We Learn

What we have realized and started at the local level has also become a recent focus for the state, which has long been viewed as a pioneer in education. Recently, the Kentucky Department of Education released “United We Learn,” a vision for the future of education in the Commonwealth. Essential to the vision is the belief that local communities and schools must move beyond relying on traditional forms of state and federal accountability measurements and work together towards a shared local vision for student success and long-term community prosperity.

NCS Community Centered Blueprint

The original blueprint was a call to action to invite schools and communities to work together to provide powerful educational experiences for all students. “With the rise in technology, the changing nature of the workforce, and the competitive nature of globalization, schools and  communities must ensure that our most important resource, people, are working hand in hand to multiply our resources and intelligence to make decisions that will strengthen our community.”

2019-2020 Community PRIDE Team

In the fall and winter of 2019, the Nelson County Board of Education, parents, business and civic leaders, along with educators began partnering monthly to shape a vision for student success that would translate to success in work and life. This group comprising over 50 members started to center around skills like citizenship, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.
