Nelson County has received 20 applications for superintendent, according to Owens Saylor, the coordinator of Superintendent Search Services for the Nelson County Board of Education.
‘The number and quality of applicants speak to the level of interest in Nelson County Schools and should provide excellent options for the board to consider,” Saylor said Monday.
Of the 20 applications received, eight applicants are currently sitting superintendents, two of whom are from out of state, Saylor reported.
The superintendent search timeline calls for the Nelson County Screening Committee to present the recommended slate of finalists to the school board later this month and for the board to release the names of the finalists soon after they have been determined.
The next board meeting is set for March 20.
