ATC programs receive MCAKY boost

Award check being presented to NCATC The Mechanical Contractor’s Association of Kentucky (MCAKY) has awarded $5,000 to the Nelson County Area Technology Center to help advance the Welding and the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) education and training programs. On Aug. 22, Scott Lusk, center, representing MCAKY, presented a symbolic check. Receiving the award is ATC Principal Jeremey Booher (left end of the check) along with a host of students and instructors Dustin Benningfield (welding), extreme left, and Chris Brown (HVAC), extreme right. Currently, 53 students are in the HVAC program, and 50 students study welding. Each program offers four classes. “We’re grateful to MCAKY and the many local businesses and industries that help with their generous support for our programs,” Booher commented.
