BES Book Towers BES Book Towers

BES third graders have been working on book towers in reading with Mrs. Carrico. Each time students finish reading a book, they write a summary of it and turn it in to be graded. If their summary is free of errors, they fill out a book tower form which includes the title and genre, as well as a rating assigned by the student. When students complete four book tower forms, they get to eat lunch with Mrs. Carrico and two friends! Students really like book towers because they get rewarded for reading, they enjoy the feeling of accomplishment, and they love spending time with their teacher and friends eating lunch!!

BES Spotlight BES Spotlight

Mrs. DeWitt and Mrs. Wimpsett took their second grade classes on a field trip to Kroger and Fresh in Bardstown this week. Students are learning about running a business as part of their project-based learning, and the trip’s focus was marketing. Students learned about the use of language and color in advertisements, as well as characters to promote products. Store managers also discussed product placement and customer experience, but both stores emphasized word-of-mouth as their best advertisement! A big thanks to both stores for hosting our students!!

BES Field Trip BES Field Trip

A group of third and fourth grade BES students recently visited Flaget Memorial Hospital to learn about the services offered and career opportunities there. Students toured different types of rooms depending on care needed, the emergency department, the radiology department, the lab, and the cancer center. The trip sparked lots of discussion about possible careers in the medical field!
