Jacob Lanham, a Nelson County High School senior, has been selected as one of 120 primary candidates for the first-ever Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Flight Academy Program Scholarship.
There were more than 620 applicants from more than 280 JROTC program schools, and Lanham was one of only two students from Kentucky schools to be selected.
He will be attending one of six universities that are partnering with the U.S. Air Force to offer this program to students interested in an aviation career. He will train in a 9-week curriculum for his private pilot’s license and receive college credit.
Lanham is a 4th-year cadet in the NCHS AFJROTC program and is interested in becoming a pilot in the military, either through a service academy or senior ROTC program.
