Run for the Kids 5K Saturday, Aug. 18

The Bardstown City Schools Department of Special Education and the Nelson County Schools Department of Special Education would love to see you at the 4th Annual “Run for the Kids” WHAS Crusade for Children 5K.

This charity run/walk will begin Aug. 18 at 8 a.m. at the Bardstown City Schools Board of Education, with all proceeds  donated to the WHAS Crusade for Children. The registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 3. Click here to register.

As you may or may not know, the WHAS Crusade for Children provides grant money to non-profit agencies, schools, and hospitals that serve children with special needs up to age 18. The term “special needs” is defined as physical, mental, emotional, or medical needs.

Many children in the Nelson County community have benefited from the Crusade’s generosity. In the past, area schools have received grants that funded equipment such as iPads, touch-screen computers, a special needs playground, and Snoezelen (multi-sensory) rooms in two district schools.

In the last three school years alone, Bardstown and Nelson County Schools have received more than $160,000 in funds from the WHAS Crusade for Children.
