The Nelson County Board of Education is seeking a Superintendent with excellent communication skills and the ability to develop relationships that build trust, unity, and a shared vision for excellence across the district. He/she must be student-centered, have expertise with effective teaching and learning practices, and must demonstrate an understanding of all facets of the superintendent's role, including school finance, personnel law, school/community relations and the ability to effectively delegate authority.
Nelson County Schools has approximately 4,500 students in 3 elementary, 2 K-8, 2 middle, and 2 high schools; the Nelson County Career and Technical Center; The Nelson County Early Learning Center; and Horizons Academy. There are approximately 658 full-time staff dedicated to the educational enrichment of the students. District website: nelson.kyschools.us.
