And they’re off for the popsicles

Beginning of the Popsicle RacesWith steely-eyed determination and a tasty treat as their reward, this group of runners helps kick-off the ninth-annual Popsicle Races, Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Thomas Nelson High School. With popsicles waiting at the finish line for all finishers, kids come from literally every elementary school and middle school in Nelson County, to compete in a series of races for three age groupings from kindergarten through Grade 8. The younger children run 1 kilometer and the older ones run 3k. This year there were 122 finishers for the first run. The second race is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Nelson County High.
