As you may or may not know, the WHAS Crusade for Children provides grant money to non-profit agencies, schools, and hospitals that serve children with special needs up to age 18. The term “special needs” is defined as physical, mental, emotional, or medical needs. Many children in Nelson County have benefited from the Crusade’s generosity. In the past, area schools have received grants that funded equipment such as: iPads, touch screen computers, a special needs playground, and Snoezelen (multi-sensory) rooms in two district schools. In the last three school years alone, Bardstown and Nelson County Schools have received more than $160,000 from the WHAS Crusade for Children.
